The North Mecklenburg Vikings topped the New Hanover Wildcats 57-47 on Saturday night at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum to claim their third NCHSAA Men’s Basketball State Championship.
The Vikings led for 31 and a half of the 32 minutes in the game and were powered by Isaiah Evans, who played all 32 minutes. Evans led all scorers with 23 points and he added eight rebounds. He was named the Charlie Adams Most Valuable Player for his performance on the night.
Chadlyn Traylor added 15 points on seven shots and was named the Most Outstanding Player for the West.
