2026 Track Tryout Information

  • Please wear a shirt that coaches can write on. White preferably but anything will do. 
  • Make sure you bring comfortable running shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather. (If it is cold or rainy, we will still run outside. (DRESS APPROPRIATELY).
  • All forms should have been turned in by now. If not, please submit these forms immediately as they are required to be on file for a student to try-out.

Monday, February 23rd, 2026 – Girls Day: We will thoroughly stretch as a group, and each individual will run a 400m (one lap), 100 m dash and attempt Long Jump & High Jump.  After tryouts, please make sure you stretch- injuries, pulls and tears can happen if you do not properly warm up or cool down.  Tryout end time: 5:30.

Tuesday, February 24th, 2026 – Girls Day: We will thoroughly stretch as a group. We will run a mile for anyone interested in being a distance runner, and each individual will run a 200m (one lap), and attempt hurdles/throwing.  After tryouts, please make sure you stretch- injuries, pulls and tears can happen if you do not properly warm up or cool down.  Tryout end time: 5:30.

Wednesday, February 25th, 2026 – Boys Day: We will thoroughly stretch as a group, and each individual will run a 400m (one lap), 100 m dash and attempt Long Jump & High Jump.  After tryouts, please make sure you stretch- injuries, pulls and tears can happen if you do not properly warm up or cool down.  Tryout end time: 5:30.

Note: Athletes will be split into ‘field event’ groups where they will rotate and try out the different field events: long jump, high jump, hurdles and throwing throughout the 2 days. This is to see if anyone has raw talent in any of these areas (many athletes have never had the opportunity to try these events before, so raw athleticism and coaching ability will play a role here).

  • Cuts: Cuts will be made on Tuesday, February 24th (Girls) and Thursday, February 26th (Boys). Cuts will be based on times/distances, areas of need, and overall attitude. 
  • We expect commitment to our team. Track meets will be held on Thursdays. We practice every day after school until 5:30 during the pre-season. Once we have our first meet, we will practice Monday-Wednesday until 5:00, meets on Thursdays @ 5:00pm, and no practice on Fridays unless otherwise mentioned by the coaches.
