Sam Greiner is the 2025 Observer boys’ Coach of the Year. Greiner is an alumni of Butler High School where he played football.
Greiner led the West Charlotte Lions to the 2025 NCHSAA 3A Football Championship eight years after leading the Harding Rams to a state title.Â
As a coach Greiner has the ability to find what each of his players has and bring that out of them to benefit their team.Â
Greiner took over the program in 2021 that went 31-77 over ten seasons but his first season was rough with the lions going 0-11.
The West Charlotte Lions showed improvement in 2022 going 7-5, then 9-4 in 2023, and finally 13-2 in 2024 with a 14-7 victory over Seventy-First for the state title.Â
