William A. Hough High School senior Madison St. Denis earned top honors at the September meeting of the Hood Hargett Breakfast Club, receiving an extraordinary total of $10,000 to support her college education.
Madison, a dedicated leader and standout student-athlete at Hough, was initially selected as the club’s latest scholarship recipient in recognition of her achievements both on the field and in the classroom. The morning took a historic turn when the organization officially renamed its program the Chuck Hood Scholarship, honoring Chuck Hood’s decades of unwavering support and lasting impact on young athletes across the Charlotte community.
The celebration took an even more remarkable turn during the event when featured keynote speaker Anne Mahlum made a surprise announcement on stage: she matched Madison’s initial $5,000 award with an additional $5,000 contribution.
With a total of $10,000 now awarded toward her college expenses, Madison stands as a shining example of excellence and leadership within Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
