
The Myers Park girls tennis team won the N.C. High School Athletic Association 8A dual-team state championship on Friday at the Burlington Tennis Center.
The Mustangs defeated Hoggard in a 5-0 sweep to claim the title. It is the fourth dual-team title in school history for the girls tennis program and the first since 2023.
Myers Park also won dual-team girls tennis state titles in 2008 and 2016.
Teagan Reilly was named the Most Valuable Player of the state championship, beating Hoggard’s Braelyn Roberson 4-6, 6-1 [11-9] in the No. 1 singles match.
Myers Park’s Kayla Nofziger and Hoggard’s Kate Bennington were named winners of the Sportsmanship Award.
Myers Park ends the season with a perfect 21-0 record. The win over the Hoggard was the first loss of the season for the Vikings.
