Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Below:

When does spring registration begin/end?

Registration is now open. Registration ends on February 6th for soccer and baseball. Registration ends for track/field on February 13th. See steps below on how to register.

Step: 1

You must create an account to complete all necessary forms by going to the registration tab here on this link. If you have created an account already or registered for a fall or winter sport, then go to step 2.

Step: 2

If you already have a dragon fly max account created, to try out for a spring sport, you must press on the one sport you wish to try out for in the spring. You can do this by going to your accounts home page, then select view details. Once you arrive to view details, then go to add sport. If your sport is selected already, then your work is done as far as being signed- up. To ensure all paperwork is complete continue to check your status meter leading up to tryouts. Read below on how to confirm your student is ready to participate in tryouts.

How will I confirm that my registration and tryout forms have been submitted?

When 9 of 10 items ( not included are the two  optional questions) are showing green checks on your dragon fly max registration, this will confirm your registration is complete. If you do not have  9 of 10 green checks ( minus the two optional questions), you will need to read the message for the item you are missing. Additionally, if you are not receiving group messages it is more than likely you did not register (sign-up) for a particular team sport.

Lastly and importantly. Do not pay any participation fees until your student makes the team. Once your student makes the team and the participation fee is paid, then your dragon fly max registration page will read 10 of 10 completed with all green checks. Additionally, if you registered (signed-up) for other sports, but did not make a sports team, uncheck those sports when it’s time to pay, do select the team your student did make. The particpation should be $75 per season.

Note:  I will not be confirming individual registrations. Updates for all spring registrations will happen closer to the spring tryout dates. Be sure to check your registrations page for updates should any information come earlier.

When are tryouts for spring sports as well as start times?

Monday, February 13, and Tuesday the 14th, girls’ soccer only, and baseball will take place on their field of play. On Wednesday, February 15th, and Thursday the 16th, boys’ soccer will be on the field. February 21st will be the first day of tryouts for track/field.

Typically, tryouts will start after school around 4:30 pm. Sometime tryouts on the first day may begin around 4:45 pm. From the start of your student’s tryout, each tryout will last two hours.

What will my students need for try-outs?

They will need a white T-shirt you won’t mind disposing. The t-shirts will allow each coach to write a number on the prospective players’ t-shirt. The numbers will allow the coaches to observe to identify each prospect by number when evaluating. Also, be sure to wear the appropriate shoes for your sport when trying out.

When will I know if my child made the team?

The final tryout results will be posted online using the player’s number that will be given to student-athletes by the coach on day one. Once the final cut is made, the final team roster will be sent to all signed-up athletes’ parents. The final roster typically comes out after the second day of tryouts. In some cases, the final roster could take longer before it is final.  Be sure to use a valid email. I have found when using dragon fly max that the emails you use for correspondence should be that of a parent, even if you use the same email twice. The student’s email is typically where important emails will go first based on the current dragon fly system, sometimes information is not always read or conveyed to parents when this happens.

When will cheerleading tryouts happen?

There are no cheerleading teams for the spring season in CMS.

Where can I find the spring sports schedule (baseball, soccer, track/field)?

Look under the tab above for “sports”, then press on the link of the team schedule you are looking for. Note: The spring sport schedules will be posted by February 28th, 2023.

Injured, sick, have recently relocated, or previously scheduled trip during tryouts?

A coach may, but is not required to, hold a roster spot for a player that cannot attend a tryout due to illness, injury, or a previously scheduled vacation.  A written doctor’s excuse must be presented PRIOR to the tryout in order to use a medical waiver.  If you are missing the tryout due to a previously scheduled vacation, you MUST submit a written request to both the athletic director/coach prior to the tryouts to have the coach consider evaluating your child when you return.  Again, it is the coaches’ discretion if they want to have roster spot open after the initial tryouts and make supplementary tryout available.

In the event a coach decides to hold a spot, and to be as equal as possible to all other participants trying out in front of countless other student athletes vying for a position on the team, no more than one spot will be held open for someone that falls into one of the categories listed above.

If you fall into one of the categories listed above, you will be notified by either the coach or athletic director either before, or after the initial tryout date if there will be a supplemental tryout for your student.

Does Carmel have a cross-country team?

No, Carmel does not have a cross-country team. No CMS middle school has cross-country in Charlotte-Mecklenburg County. However, we do have track/field that starts in the spring.

What is the participation fee/other fees?

The participation fee is what helps fund middle school athletics. You only pay this fee when your student makes the team, not before. Additionally, if other fees show up, you only pay the fee for the sport your student is participating in currently. Unselect the others to get the correct
fee.
