As the winter season heats up, all eyes are on basketball as teams are just getting started with non-conference games early this season. 

Here are some teams to watch as the season progresses and we get closer to conference play. 

Boys Basketball

West Charlotte

The Lions sit at 6-0 overall and a 0-0 conference record.

Last season the Lions finished with an overall record of 10-15 and a conference record of 6-8.

They made it to the first round round of the playoffs falling on the road to Ashbrook.

North Mecklenburg

The Vikings sit at 6-0 overall and a 0-0 conference record.

Last season the Vikings finished with an overall record of 30-3 and a conference record of 14-0.

They made it to the championship round of the playoffs defeating New Hanover for the NCHSAA 4A Championship. 

Independence

The Patriots sit at 6-2 overall and a 0-0 conference record.

Last season the Patriots finished with an overall record of 30-3 and a conference record of 14-0.

They made it to the third round of the playoffs falling at home to Julius Chambers. 

Butler

The Bulldogs sit at 8-0 overall and a 0-0 conference record.

Last season the Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 15-13 and a conference record of 7-5.

They made it to the first round of the playoffs falling on the road to Myers Park. 

Julius Chambers

The Cougars sit at 7-2 overall and a 0-0 conference record.

Last season the Cougars finished with an overall record of 23-9 and a conference record of 11-3.

They made it to the regional round of the playoffs falling on the road to North Mecklenburg. 

Ardrey Kell

The Knights sit at 6-2 overall and a 0-0 conference record.

Last season the Knights finished with an overall record of 18-8 and a conference record of 7-5.

They made it to the first round of the playoffs falling on the road to Mooresville. 

Girls Basketball

Mallard Creek

The Mavericks sit at 8-1 overall and a 0-0 conference record.

Last season the Mavericks finished with an overall record of 25-4 and a conference record of 13-1.

They made it to the second round round of the playoffs falling at home to Hickory Ridge.

 

North Mecklenburg

The Vikings sit at 8-1 overall and a 0-0 conference record.

Last season the Vikings finished with an overall record of 25-4 and a conference record of 13-1.

They made it to the third round round of the playoffs falling on the road to Lake Norman.

 

Ardrey Kell

The Vikings sit at 6-3 overall and a 0-0 conference record.

Last season the Knights finished with an overall record of 17-10 and a conference record of 11-2.

They made it to the first round round of the playoffs falling on the road to Grimsley.

 

Hough

The Huskies sit at 6-2 overall and a 0-0 conference record.

Last season the Huskies finished with an overall record of 20-8 and a conference record of 10-4.

They made it to the second round round of the playoffs falling on the road to Watauga.

 

South Mecklenburg

Last season the Sabres finished with an overall record of 25-5 and a conference record of 12-2.

They made it to the third round of the playoffs falling on the road to McDowell.

 

Myers Park

The Mustangs sit at 4-4 overall and a 0-0 conference record.

Last season the Sabres finished with an overall record of 13-14 and a conference record of 11-3.

They made it to the first round of the playoffs falling on the road to Butler.
